Monday thru Thursday 7:00am - 5:00pm (Closed Daily 12:00pm to 1:00pm) Friday by Appointment Only 48 Hours Advanced Notice Required

ATTENTION BOWERS WATER CUSTOMERS
ON 2/9/2026 SOME WATER CUSTOMERS IN BOWERS EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF PRESSURE AND WERE EVENTUALLY WITHOUT WATER. INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY IMMEDIATELY. DEP NOTIFIED. FOUND LOSS AT STORAGE CAPACITY. INVESTIGATION OF CAUSE LEAD TO LOSS OF RESERVE. PROBLEM FOUND MIDDAY 2/9/2026. TANKERS OF POTABLE WATER HAULED TO REFILL CAPACITY. SAMPLING WILL TAKE PLACE AND WILL ADVISE WHEN BOIL WATER IS LIFTED.

THE MTMA IS AWARE OF THE LOSS OF PRESSURE / LOSS OF WATER IN BOWERS
We are currently working on the situation! We appreciated your patience and understanding. Please prepare for a BOIL WATER ADIVSORY when service does return. Please have some drinking water on hand for the next few days. Please go to www.maxatawny.org and register on REGROUP to receive updates and all future alerts in the Township and MTMA!

The brush drop off location at the Township is open. Brush drop off is for TOWNSHIP RESIDENTIAL USE ONLY. Township accepts any form of brush up to FOUR (4) inches in diameter. WE DO NOT ACCEPT: large tree stumps, firewood, bamboo, flowers/plants, construction material, bales, concrete/cement blocks/grass clippings.

Project Begins April 14, 2025

At the request of Township Residents, and due to the high number of stray/free roaming cats in the Township, the Board of Supervisors have agreed to support TRN (trap, neuter, return) in our Municipality. Township Residents can take a stray/free roaming cat to the clinic of their choice, get an invoice showing service provided, submit the invoice to the Township (with proof of residency) and get reimbursed up to $40.00 for each service. Each Resident/Household will be capped at 3 reimbursements in 2025, with a maximum payout of 37 services/reimbursements Township wide for the year. Maxatawny is a name derived from a Native American language purported to mean "Bear's Path Creek". Maxatawny encompasses a total area of 26.3 square miles and is home to approximately 7,181 residents and is served by the Kutztown Area School District. Kutztown University of Pennsylvania lies mostly in the township and straddles the boundary with Kutztown.
